No of instructions=150 and each one take 8 cycles, total of=150*8=1200 cycles. No of bits=$log_{2}^{1200}$=11 bits. Size of control word=125+11=136 bits. 2 votes 2 votes Rahul Jain25 commented Jan 17, 2017 reply Follow Share @santosh I have one doubt, What if 64 signals are to be generated and by vertical microprogramming. Will it take 6 bits?? If so then how come we know when we don't want any control signal so in this case do we need 7 bits or such case never occurs there is always one ontrol signal required????? 1 votes 1 votes santhoshdevulapally commented Jan 17, 2017 reply Follow Share If no control signal is used in that case no of bits in vertical programming takes $log_{2}^{n+1}$ .where 'n' is the no of control signals. In the exam consider log(n) bits only.Very rare case control signals are not used. 1 votes 1 votes Devshree Dubey commented Jan 17, 2017 reply Follow Share Can the above answer be explained diagrammatically? 0 votes 0 votes Devshree Dubey commented Jan 17, 2017 reply Follow Share How have you computed the value of log base 2 raise to the power of 1200? 0 votes 0 votes Please log in or register to add a comment.
