Suppose there are two teams A and B. Both of them are competing with each other on a racing track of 1 km. But team A has got the advantage of starting the race from 280 m from the starting point. If the ratio of speed of A to B is 3:4.

Select the correct option from the options given below:

A

Team A will win by 20m

B

Team B will win by 20m

C

Team A will win by 40m

Distance to be covered by S = 720m
Distance to be covered by B = 1000m

ratio of speed=>A:B=3:4
let speed of A be 3x/s
let speed of B be 4x/s
let x=10
speed of A= 30m/s
speed of B = 40m/s

Time taken by A to reach destination = (Distance to be travelled / speed)=(720/30)=24 s
Time taken by B to reach destination = (Distance to be travelled / speed)=(1000/40)=25 s

thus A reaches 1 second before B.As a reaches at 24 seconds,calculate how much B has travelled in 24 s
Distance travelled by B is 24s= 24*speed of B=24*40=960m
Thus B is 40m away from destination when A reaches destination

hence A wins over B by 40m

option c
