It is neither transmitted nor stored anywhere.Its like you have phone call and you doesn't pick up or cancel it.

packets are groups of bits aligned in some specific manner and bits are different level of electric signals.

you have to store those signals or retransmit them otherwise they just tranferred into "heat energy".
