Given that the price of the eggs is reduced by 40%.

Actual reduction (savings) in price for every $ 50 spent = 50 * (40/100) = $ 20

And for this $ 20 saved (reduction in price), the women got 64 more eggs.

$ 20 --- 64 eggs

? $   --- 12 eggs     (since we are interested in dozen eggs)

Reduced price per dozen eggs X = (  ( 12 * 20 ) / 64 ) = $3.75

So, with the discounted price, the women saves $3.75, for every dozen eggs purchased.

Let the original price be Rs x. Then reduction is done by 40%.

So d reduced price will be

x-40% of x. Therefore d reduced price is 0.6x.

64 more eggs cud be purchased for this given price.

So working out

50/0.6x -50/x=64/12

20/0.6x=64/12.

I literally worked out many times and I m getting d answer to be 6.25 which matches none of d options. So if u know any other method please mention it here.

I'd actually want to know wat d real answer is.:). Yeah!! Do share.
