Best answer 11 votes 11 votes In computing, Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) is a network protocol suite that authenticates and encrypts the packets of data sent over a network. IPsec includes protocols for establishing mutual authentication between agents at the beginning of the session and negotiation of cryptographic keys for use during the session. IPsec is an end-to-end security scheme operating in the Internet Layer of the Internet Protocol Suite, while some other Internet security systems in widespread use, such as Transport Layer Security (TLS) and Secure Shell (SSH), operate in the upper layers at the Transport Layer (TLS) and the Application layer (SSH). Hence, only IPsec protects all application traffic over an IP network. IPsec can automatically secure applications at the IP layer. In terms of the OSI model, it's a bit of a grey area. It is usually implemented in the application layer, but strictly speaking is in the session layer. https://security.stackexchange.com/questions/19681/where-does-ssl-encryption-take-place 1 votes 1 votes JashanArora commented Dec 9, 2019 reply Follow Share SSL is used in the Presentation Layer. https://gateoverflow.in/18114/isro2011-32 1 votes 1 votes Please log in or register to add a comment.
