For first position every 12 horses have equal possibility=12

Since 1st position is acquired by one of the 12 horses,so other 11 horses have equal possibility for second position=11

Since 2nd position is acquired by one of the 11 horses,so other 10 horses have equal possibility for second position=10

so,12*11*10 would be total possibilities.
