While Solving System of Homogenous Linear Equations, why can't

To solve linear homogenous equations in n variables, n equations would suffice. So, rank will always be less than or equal to n. However, if we're given more than n equations, then it is an overdetermined system and has no solution. Refer here what an overdetermined system is.
