A man is allocated a task. He doubles the task done everyday. If the man completely does the task in 8 days, how many days did it take for the man to complete 25% of the task?
Method 1:
100% in 8 days and he doubles everyday which means 50% work at 7th day and 25% at 6th day.
Method 2:
Day 1 ------>20*x work which sums to x
Day 2 ------>2*x work which sums to (1+2)x=3x
Day 3 ------>22*x work which sums to (1+2+22)x=7x
Day 4 ------>23*x work which sums to 15x
Day 5 ------>24*x work which sums to 31x
Day 6 ------>25*x work which sums to 63x
Day 7 ------>26*x work which sums to 127x
Day 8 ------>27*x work 100% task and which sums to 255x
(255/4)x=63.75x
which means there will some small portion of work left at the end of day 6...
but according to Method 1 he'll be able to 25% of work by the end of day 6 completely...
how these two methods are showing slightly different results??
