cache memory is placed between CPU and RAM. Programs are stored in the secondary memory .For the execution they are brought in main memory from the secondary memory. suppose there is no cache memory and in such case cpu iss going to schedule 10 processes per second(assume). now suppose we have cache memory available then cpu is able to schedule more than 10 processes per second(for example  20 processes per second) in this way CPU is utilized efficiently. hence  in order to increase CPU utilization Cache memory plays a vital role.Since it is made up of gold and gold have more efficiency to transfer data than any other element.
