9 votes 9 votes Efficiency = Speedup / Stages => Stages = 4.8 / 0.76 = 6.31 Take stages = 6, then efficiency = 80% and taking stages = 7, efficiency = 68.57% Hence, Stages = 6 is better here as efficiency >= 76%. Kapil answered Oct 21, 2016 Kapil comment Share Follow See all 11 Comments See all 11 11 Comments reply Vijay Thakur commented Oct 22, 2016 reply Follow Share Answer will be 7, because given efficiency is 76%, system can be less efficient than 76% but not more. hence correct answer will be 7. Because if there are 6 stages then efficiency is 80% which is not possible 1 votes 1 votes Arjun commented Oct 22, 2016 reply Follow Share why not more? 2 votes 2 votes Vijay Thakur commented Oct 23, 2016 reply Follow Share @Arjun They g Have mentioned the question saying that efficiency is 76%. So if we take 6 stages pipeline will be more efficient. We need to keep efficiency below 76 –1 votes –1 votes Prashant. commented Oct 23, 2016 reply Follow Share vijay quetion say minimum number of state , if you take 7 then max efficency 68.57% means we can not go beyond tthat. so if we take 6 then 80% is possible but we get only 76%. 2 votes 2 votes Vijay Thakur commented Oct 23, 2016 reply Follow Share @anirudh So should the answer be 6? But the said pipeline is 76% efficient. If stages are 6 pipeline will be 80% efficient 0 votes 0 votes Prashant. commented Oct 23, 2016 reply Follow Share yes vijay. we take min number of state, remember when quetion ask minimum number of anything and all condition satisfy then take it. we can think max efficency can taken by 80% but due to some reson we get only 76%. 1 votes 1 votes Kapil commented Oct 23, 2016 reply Follow Share @vijay, What is the problem im efficiency > 76 % ? why do u want to make it less than 76 %. If u realy want to make less than 76%, then best option is to take 1 stage, you will get minimum efficiency as possible. 2 votes 2 votes Vijay Thakur commented Oct 23, 2016 reply Follow Share @Anirudh thanks, I will keep it in mind! @Kapil, you got emotional! When i thought answer is 7 that time I kept upper Bound in my mind i.e. 76% i thought we cannot go above 76%. 3 votes 3 votes thor commented Dec 10, 2016 reply Follow Share @Kapil https://gateoverflow.in/43806/isro-2013-15#c91430 Which approach is right? 0 votes 0 votes Shreya Roy commented Mar 20, 2017 reply Follow Share Kapil , the question asks min number of stages needed ,so may be they are asking to maintain the frequency less than 76%. So , I guess 7 is the answer. 1 votes 1 votes Manu Thakur commented Nov 17, 2017 reply Follow Share Answer of this question should be 7. similar question has come in ISRO 2013 exam, https://gateoverflow.in/43806/isro-2013-15 9 is the answer as per the official answer keys. 0 votes 0 votes Please log in or register to add a comment.
