The internet host is roughly doubling in size every $18$ $months$. Although no one really knows for sure, one estimate put the number of hosts on it at $7$ million in January $1996$. Using these data the expected number of internet hosts in January $2008$ is _____ billion.

num of increment=(12/1.5)=8times

2^8(7 million)=1.792b

Answer should be,

7*2=14

14*2=28

28*2=56

56*2=112

112*2=224

224*2=448

448*2=896

896*2=1792

So, it's 1.792 Billion

Every 1.5 years size is doubling:

1996 - 7 m

1997.5- 14 m

1999- 28m

2000.5- 56m

2002- 112m

2003.5 -224m

2005- 448m

2006.5 -896m

2008- 1792m

Therefore answer is 1.792 billion.
