Consider the two hosts A and B are connected Via a Router R which is having a queuing delay of 7 μsec . The Router R has two links Link1 and Link2, connected to A and B respectively. Each link is 250 meters long and has a bandwidth of 10 9 bps. The propagation speed is 500,000 km/sec. The total transfer delay for 2 KB packet from A to B is __________ μsec. (ignore the processing delay).

I think

total delay = Transmission delay + 2 * propagation delay + 2 * queueing delay (both for packet and ack)

T_t = 16.384 micro sec

2T_{p =} 10 microsec

2T_q = 14 micro sec

So totally 40.384 microsec

I have a silly doubt

whenever size of any data packet is given then we take it in power of 2's so here 2KB should be 2KB= 2 * 2^10 bytes and not 2 KB=2* 10^3 bytes.

and when we take bandwidth then it is in power of 10's.

clear me if I m wrong.????

If it is in terms of kbps (bit per second) then use 10³, If it is KB(byte) then use 2¹⁰. Usually bandwidth will be in terms of bps.

And I used 10³ here for the sake of simplicity as bandwidth was 10⁹  and its wrong :-) It should've been 2¹⁰.

And especially if it's a numeric question will be a very serious mistake :-). i will edit my answer now.
