Sh!va made an experimental network prototype on a 1Kbps link. If the packet size is 1 Kb what should be the most appropriate approach to calculate the transmission time for one packet?

a) 1024 bits /(1024 bits per sec)

b) 1000 bits/(1024 bits per sec)

c) 1024 bits/(1000 bits per sec)

d.) 1000 bits/(1000 bits per sec)

It doesn't make a difference here, because whatever value for k you choose that will be cancelled because

  • TT= 1kb/1kbps = 1 sec

Generally it's option C
