Best answer 1 votes 1 votes 282 should be answer. adresses in a block = 1024/64 = 16 = x (10+x+x^2) KB = 282KB Ravi_1511 answered Feb 7, 2017 • selected Sep 7, 2017 by Bikram Ravi_1511 comment Share Follow See all 0 reply Please log in or register to add a comment.

But I can tell you that generally 2 questions are there. To calculate Maximum file size and total file size. Just see those questions. It will be enough. 0 votes 0 votes saurabh rai commented Feb 7, 2017 reply Follow Share see this https://gateoverflow.in/96795/doubt-regarding-unix-i-node-file-system-implementation 0 votes 0 votes Lucky sunda commented Feb 7, 2017 reply Follow Share For shortcut just remember that for maximum file size we only consider highest indirect pointer. If here it would have been then we would have used 3.And the concept is like this.Memory is divided into disk blocks. Disk block may have data or pointers to another disk block. So, double indirect block is like having a block having pointers to blocks. These blocks also have pointers to othere blocks. And these last blocks have data. So, we will add all these blocks. 1 votes 1 votes yg92 commented Feb 7, 2017 reply Follow Share @Lucky Why have you not included direct and single indirect in calculation? I think it should be 282 KB. SImilar gate question - https://gateoverflow.in/2149/gate2012_41 1 votes 1 votes Ashwani Kumar 2 commented Feb 7, 2017 reply Follow Share Yes it should be 282 KB. Asked in 2012 they included all pointers.. 1 votes 1 votes Lucky sunda commented Feb 8, 2017 reply Follow Share no..direct and single will not be included. They will be included if we have to calculate total file size. 0 votes 0 votes Bikram commented Sep 7, 2017 i edited by Bikram Sep 7, 2017 reply Follow Share @Lucky Here maximum possible file size is asked , so direct and single , double will be included. But what you calculated above is only maximum file size , which contain only highest indirect pointer. Not all pointers.. Hope you get it. Correct answer is 282 . 0 votes 0 votes Please log in or register to add a comment.
