TCP(Transmission Control Protocol) is a Transport Layer Protocol. It provides Connection Oriented Service as compared to its counter part UDP(User Data Gram ) Protocol which only gives Connection Less Service. In Connection Oriented Protocol the acknowledgement is sent to d receiver. However in UDP only transmission is dne. No Acknowledgement is sent. Yeah. I hope d description helps u. :)
