i am also getting answer as 11/18 :( wt to do.??

Workers without children = men without children + women without children

Let $X$ be the total workers.

Women with children = X/3 * 1/2 * 1/3 = X/18

Men with children = 2X/3 * 3/4 * 2/3 = X/3

So, workers without children = X - X/18 - X/3 = 11/18

Now married workers without children = married women without children + married men without children

= X/3 * 1/2 * 2/3 + 2X/3 * 3/4 * 1/3 = X/9 + X/6 = 5/18

May be this is what is meant in question.

ya maybe.. but do you think sir we will follow approach given by you because here it creates confusion in understanding the question.what do you think ideal answer would be? and questions like this if are asked in gate then what to do --- ????--- should we attempt such questions or in the fear of getting -ve shouldn't .Also in such questions like this even if we leave them blank do we get the grace marks or do we have attempt it compulsorily in hope of getting grace marks???

Well for me 11/18 is a better answer and would be surprised to see 5/18 given marks and not 11/18.

During 2012 and 2013 GATE gave marks for most ambiguous/wrong questions but not in 2015. If they give, marks will be give even if you haven't attempted.

My advise would be to attempt it and don't worry about the negative if it is not a time consuming one like this. But if the question takes time and it looks ambiguous just leave it- don't waste time.
