Out of the provided options, the assertion "No adversity justifies giving up hope" is best supported by the information given about Robert Bruce and the spider.

Here's why:

  • The story highlights the importance of perseverance and resilience in the face of adversity. Bruce, after repeated defeats, was ready to give up, but the spider's persistent effort to build its web despite numerous failures inspired him to continue fighting.
  • The spider's success, achieved after multiple attempts, demonstrates that even seemingly impossible goals can be achieved with unwavering determination and refusal to give up. This directly relates to the idea that setbacks and challenges, no matter how difficult, shouldn't lead to abandoning hope.
  • The other options are not as strongly supported by the story:
    • Failure is the pillar of success: While the story shows that failure can be a motivator and a learning experience, it doesn't suggest that it's the sole foundation of success.
    • Honesty is the best policy: There's no connection between the spider's actions and the value of honesty.
    • Life begins and ends with adventures: The story focuses on overcoming adversity, not on the adventurous nature of life in general.

Therefore, based on the story's emphasis on perseverance and refusing to give up hope in the face of challenges, the assertion "No adversity justifies giving up hope" is the most relevant and supported by the information provided.
