Please solve this problem

Part a:

5 Stages each taking 1 clock cycles = Total time = 5 clock cycles to complete  

Now execution time = Number of instruction * Number of clock cycle * clock cycle time

                                = 5 *1nsec  [assume instrucion are infinite]

                                = 5nsec

Execution rate = 1/ execution time = 1/ 5nsec = 200 MIPs

Part b:

Here clock cycle for fetch cycle(1st stage) = 0.9 * 1 + 0.1 * 4 = 1.3

Here clock cycle for 2nd stage = 1

Here clock cycle for 3rd stage = 1

Here clock cycle for 4nd stage (load and store)  = (0.3 *3) + (0.7 * 1) = 1.6

Here clock cycle for 5th stage = 1

Total CPI = 1.3 + 1 + 1 + 1.6 + 1 = 5.9 

So execution rate = 1/ 5.9 nsec = 169.5 MIPs
