Why have they no taken MSS while calculating. The answer would have been different had they taken MSS into account.

instead of taking MSS they directly calculated in terms of KB, as 1 MSS = 2 KB like this they are going.

1 maximum segment size=2KB

tp=100ms

RTT=2tp=200ms

window receiver=36KB/2KB=18 segment(at max it can recive)

threshold=36KB/2KB=18KB

NOW

2KB  | 4KB|   8KB  | 16KB| 18KB|  20KB |  22KB |   24KB |   26KB |   28KB |  30KB |  32KB|  34KB|  36KB

so after 13 RTT sender sendes its first max no segment to receiver....

therefore 13*200=2600ms ans. according to me

see....both segment and kbs are interconnected ....but in the network packets used to send in form of segments;

to calculate 1seg = 1* size of mss=1*2KB=2KB

2 seg=2*size of mss=2*2KB=4KB

like that so on 18 seg= 18*2KB=36KB...

many places it calculate based on KB....

I know they are connected but the answer would be different depending on whether you are taking segments or bytes.

first answer depend on number of round trip time....we can approach this problem by taking segments also or BYTE also ...but answer will be same ....i.e in answer i have taken both ....observe number of RTT both cases are same its 13....you try by taking both cases ...if answer will come please post it :)
