Transmission window size

Question

Assume that TCP congestion window is set to 32KB and a time-out occurs. If next five transmissions are all successful then what will be the new transmission window size?

Ans is 18KB  or 20KB?

if start MSS is 2 and each MSS =2 then it will be 20KB

Given 1 MSS = 2KB and when timeout occurs it is reset at 1MSS(i.e 2KB), so after 5 transmissions : 2|4|8|16|18

Thus 18KB. Am I wrong?

I thought new means next to that 18. which is 20.

Considering 1 MSS and threshold is 16KB

So

1 2 4 8 16

16 was successful so now it will increase it's window size by 1

Now new widow size will be 17 MSS will new window size

Considering 2 MSS

2 4 8 16 18

18 was successful now it wil increase it's window size by 2

Now new window will be 20 MSS.

For first example it's 1KB for second it's 2KB
