Hi, This question is to collect some feedback from you and also to show the resources available here. The aim of gatecse/gateoverflow sites is to provide everything needed for self preparation for GATE. We also wants to show the experiences of the previous toppers and all information on exams/admissions. Most of these information you can see on the home page of http://gatecse.in, still many of you are not aware. So, just summarizing:

"Important Dates" page is not updated for sometime and shall be done soon- you can also update here. All previous year CS as well as IT questions are already here. Serious version of PDFs of questions on this site are available for download here - https://gateoverflow.in/books. The first book in the above link is a must go through for all serious GATE takers. Go for any mock test/gate book only after finishing these questions properly- most of these are just previous GATE questions and though questions don't get repeated, concepts do get repeated in GATE. Some work in progress:

  1. gateoverflow - mobile app- postponed to December as it is not urgent now,
  2. gateoverflow - TIFR questions being added.

Studying and making notes is your job- so I don't want to indulge in that. Still, some portion notes I have made on gatecse site for TOC. Also, weblinks for many GATE portions are provided here

Discussions are now being organized on weekends as a revision type. You can see them here. After December we can do proper revision. And I'll be using your biodata then.

For now and until GATE you can just concentrate on GATE. But don't forget to apply for TIFR at least as a practice for GATE.

Some rare useful facts:

  1. Write CAT also- as you are preparing aptitude for GATE.
  2. Doing GRE is also good, as you can apply for MS abroad. But unless you have a lot of time don't bother now.

The above 2 points are not backup for GATE rather alternative. Even if you get a top rank in GATE, it is good to have more options. IISc/IITB is not the end of the world and depending on your skills you might have a better option. For example- if one is interested in doing research on theoretical computer science, TIFR is a better place. Similarly if you have some managerial interest, you can join IIM even via GATE.

Now questions:

What other thing do you need us to provide? May not be possible for 2016, but we shall try for next batch at least. Our aim is to ensure equality for all for preparing for GATE. Somethings like reservation is not in our hands but you score 70+ and your dream is true. So, there is nothing else to worry. Your result is entirely from your effort. We'll try to ensure you won't commit mistakes in preparation as some has done previously. One important thing- maths and algorithm are quite important for GATE and this is not something one can teach someone quickly. So, revision may not work for these- you have to study these early.

And for many aspirants just getting a 4 digit rank is enough. They can just follow some last 10 year GATE papers from gateoverflow book and solve them. All my suggestions are for those who want to score maximum marks in GATE. For me there is nothing like an intelligent student or average student- "Intelligence is a state of mind". Question is whether you want to be intelligent or not.
