what is difference between RTT and Total Time?

RTT is time only to travel signal from source to destination while in total time we consider data upload time and then propagation time ....

So Rtt = 2*Tp .... One Tp for packet and one for ack

while Tx = data upload time from source to the underlaying line

total time :

it is time from first packet upload to the time we receive ack of last packet

total time = Tx + RTT

generally total time >=  RTT .... Equal only possible when Tx is very very small ...

RTT:- time taken by packet to received by the receiver and receiving acknowledgement by the sender it may include queuing delay as well ACK transmission delay too....(Tp+Tq+Tt_ack+Tp)

Total time :- Let a packet is ready for transmission now all delay involved in sucessfull transmission of this packet is called total time....(Tt+Tp+Tq+Tt_ack+Tp)
