I am planning on appearing for GATE CS 2019. I am currently working and have planned to enroll for online classes with a leading institute. With the exam mostly scheduled on Feb 2019, I plan to juggle job and preparation till November 2018 after which I plan on preparing full time until the exam.
Since my preparation is mostly on my own I am looking forward to resources that will give me a better idea of how GATE works. With this post I hope to get some answers to two main things as described below
First the classes have over 500 hours of videos to cover syllabus. I feel like this is achievable in 5 months (so by August 2018). Now how to spend the time from Sep to Nov 2018 efficiently. Should I solve previous year questions ?. Won't this be part of the 500 hours I spend already ?. So what would be the best strategy to follow once you have gone through the syllabus once. It would be immensely helpful if someone can share their timeline.
Secondly, I have read about people shortlisted for interviews and written tests based on GATE rank however things are still muddy here. Where can I find details like which ranks got direct admissions, how many people appear in these shortlists, what are the written exams about. Also if there are any other admission criteria please do let me know. This feels like a hurdle in preparing by yourself as you have not many people around to answer these questions.
Thank you for patiently reading till here. Looking forward to some answers.
