A DMA is transferring characters to processor from a device transmitting at 8000 bits per sec. Assume DMA using cycle stealing mode. If processor needs access to main memory once every micro second. The percentage processor be slow down due to DMA activity is ______ (in %).

Transfer rate of device=$1000 \text{ B/sec}$
$1\text{ B} $ in $1000 \text{ usec}$

so after every $1000 \text{ usec}$ processor will be blocked for $1$ cycle.
$\therefore  \frac{1}{1000}\times 100=0.1\%$

And, how is your calculation is related to $\frac{\text{Transfer time}}{\text{Transfer Time + Preparation time}}$?
