Suggestions for best utilisation of time post - GATE.

Question

Please advice on things to do post gate. I think there is a ton of things to do, like strengthening maths or doing subjects which we didnt prepare well for gate, or programming, or learning linux, or doing a course on ML or give elitmus and look for better jobs...Just too many things. Please lend some perspective to what are Must-do's,what courses to undertake etc. My thoughts are very scattered and I feel I'm wasting time as a result of that.

What you want to do totally depends on YOU. No one else can tell you that. Regarding the options available, you already know that pretty well.

I agree with Rishabh Gupta 2 but whatever you do if you want to clear gate in the future don't deviate from maths and computer science. There are many technologies in which you can find job and waste all your time working in that technology but that's just a waste of life in my perspective if you don't like that technology and just wanted the settlement. Human consciousness cannot be transferred for now so one life one goal :)

Yes. There are many technologies and please don't go by scope and salary and stuff. What do you like? Making apps, making softwares, etc.
As far as ml is concerned, from the experience of my friends, it's never like what you are thinking or what is being portrayed. People say you need strong maths, you need this that for ml. All these things are required to make a machine learning algorithm. If you are not an expert, the job you will get will be of data preprocessing (which is actually a huge task). Nice machine learning algorithms are already there open source. What they need is data in proper format. Data sources like excel sheets, hard files, db files, etc need to be merged and also proper attribute selection (for evaluation, etc). FIrst make sure you know the real picture. Read answers on quora.

cs is programming.....and maths or mathematical thinking/modelling....no need to clear gate or join IIT...be a super duper coder....one day microsoft might hire you...
