Maximum Transmission Unit(MTU) is the length of the largest link layer frame that the segment can carry. This means that MTU indirectly limits the amount of data that can be sent in one segment and it is set to 1500 bytes. The data to be sent rarely approaches this number in size and even if the data is large,it can be divided into various segments at the sender and then reassembled at the receiver.
