A compound statement which is neither tautology nor a contradiction is called Contingency.

Ex: $p ∨ q → ¬ r$

A Tautology is a proposition that is always true

Ex: $p ∨ ¬ p$

A Contradiction is a proposition that is always false.

Ex: $p ∧ ¬ p$
