The formula for the total discount in case of successive-discounts : 
If the first discount is x% and the 2nd discount is y% then,

Total discount = ( x + y - xy / 100 ) %

N.B: If there are three discounts as x %, y%, and z% then find the total discount of x % and y% first and BY using it find the total discount with z% with the above formula.

Let say SP=100,

First discount of 10%,then SP=.90*100 =90

Second discount of 20%,then SP=.80*90 =72

Now SP=72,original price=100

So total discount =28 %
