Line configuration. The physical layer is concerned with the connection of
devices to the media. In a point-to-point configuration, two devices are connected
through a dedicated link. In a multipoint configuration, a link is shared among
several devices.

I didn't understand that what is the mean of above statement.can you explain this?

point-to-point communication means two devices/nodes communicate which each other,i.e., they can share data among themselves..so a dedicated channel is in between them only.

But, in multipoint configuration, more than two devices are connected through a single link/communication channel, ..so link/communication channel can be used by any of those connected device for sharing purpose & so link is shared among them.
