Match the following symmetric block ciphers with corresponding block and key sizes:

$$\begin{array} {}  & \textbf{List-I} & & \textbf{List-II} \\  \text{(a)} & \text{}\text{DES} & \text{(i)} & \text{block size 64 and key size ranges between 32 and 448}  \\  \text{(b)} & \text{IDEA} & \text{(ii)} & \text{block size 64 and key size 64}  \\  \text{(c)} & \text{BLOW FISH} & \text{(iii)} & \text{block size 128 and key sizes 128, 192, 256} \\   \text{(d)} & \text{AES} & \text{(iv)} & \text{block size 64 and key size 128} \\  \end{array}$$

  1. $\text{a-iv; b-ii; c-i; d-iii}$
  2. $\text{a-ii; b-iv; c-i; d-iii}$
  3. $\text{a-ii; b-iv; c-iii; d-i}$
  4. $\text{a-iv; b-ii; c-iii; d-i}$

Option (2) is correct.

In DES 64 Bit is Block Size and 64 Bit Key initially, later key gets converted in 56 bits.

OPTION 2

  • DES:

  • • DES stands for data encryption standard is a block cipher technique to encrypt the data.

  • • It encrypts the data in blocks of size 64 bits each, that is, 64 bits of plain text goes to input to DES which produces 64 bits of cipher text.

  • IDEA stands for international data encryption algorithm. It is a block cipher.

  • • It also works on 64-bit plain text blocks. In IDEA, key size is larger which is of 128 bits.

  • Blow Fish:

  • • It is a symmetric key cryptographic algorithm. It works on 64-bit plain text and key size is variable in blow fish.

  • AES:

  • • It is a symmetric block cipher. It is capable of using key of sizes 128, 192 and 256 bits and decrypt the data in blocks of 128 bits each.
