Sam leaves home between 7 am and 8 am and returns between 1 pm and 2 pm to find that the minute and hour hands have interchanged their positions. How long was Sam out of the house?

Plz include the explanation for ur answer.

The same amount of time he would have been out if the hands had not been interchanged . around 5 to 6 hours.

6.30 hour

suppose he left the house 7.05 am and back1.35 pm then hour hand and minute hand exchange their position

total time= 55 minute +5 hour (8 to 1) +35 minute = 6 hour 30 minute
