How to identify a MAC  whether it is unicast MAC or broadcast MAC or Multi cast MAC by just looking the octet value?
asked in Computer Networks by Junior (959 points) | 11 views
MAC : 6 byte address

Multicast : you need to check the ist byte and and in this byte check the least significant digit ...if it's 1 that means it's  Multicast MAC  and if it's 0 that means it's unicast MAC.

In case of Broadcast address : all bits are 1 :   FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF
