UDP is also called NULL protocol as it is not connection-oriented. It is only used when speed is more important than reliability.As there is no overhead by transport layer except that it only provides error control as it has a checksum in its header. So, it reduces the error probability of IP datagram. So, it is known as best-effort IP due to its error handling capacity.
