Identify the scheduler which involves only in the decision for selection of partially serviced jobs?

a)Short-term scheduler

b)Long-term scheduler

c)Medium-term scheduler

(my confusion is that if we remove "only" from the question then a) and c) both will be correct am i right?)

yes i think as "only" is there , most appropriate answer is Short term scheduler as it is responsible to choose a job from ready queue and give it to Dispatcher , now here job is partical executed/serviceed as a result , process may be in ready queue or in Suspend queue ..if its in suspend queue then Mid-term scheduler will take care of it , while if process is there only in ready queue then Short term scheduler any how will schedule it to CPU for the execution .

Hence becasue of "only" A should be answer if not then also A is the answer ...statement will be (without only)

Look at the word SELECTION ..there is only one scheduler responsible for selection of process to execute that is SHORT term scheduler. Its correct that Mid term scheduler is also involved but they have asked the one who is responsible for SELECTION.

@ shubham I think mid term scheduler also involve in the selection because whenever 2 or more processes will have the requirement of resources which is not available then I think mid term scheduler will decide to choose one of them to perform swapin operation

yes but such decision are taken by Md-term means ..Mid term will decide which proces to Swap out and which one to swap in ...so for selection short term only ..

Here they haven't specified what they will do partially serviced jobs whether

they will be moved into ready queue from wait/suspended ( mid term scheduler)-->  not sure

they will be used for swap out and swap in (mid term scheduler )

they will be given to dispatcher (short term scheduler). 

short term scheduler -> handles both new processes as well partially serviced 

mid term scheduler-> handles only partially serviced jobs.

Option is C.

hmm i also think it is c,  

if u have any point about what other functionalities long term ,medium term,short term can do? plzz mention them.

i only know long term degree of multi.
