A ripple counter is made with three positive edge triggered flip-flops. If the output of previous lower significant bit flipflop is used as a triggering clock pulse of the next higher significant bit flip-flop, then the resultant counter is a

 

A MOD 3 up counter

B MOD 3 down counter

C MOD 8 bit up counter

D MOD 8 down counter

 

 

The answer given is D but the answer C looks correct to me. Correct me if i am wrong.

ripple is mod $2^n$ counter, how are you getting 3 ??

Actually it depends on from where you are connecting the clock 

if its Q then you will get down counter else it is an aup counter

here in the question it is mentioned that 

the output of previous lower significant bit flipflop is used as a triggering clock pulse

means Q is connected to clock so its down counter
