In a token ring, if the propagation delay in a ring is equal to the transmission delay, then what is the maximum efficiency? Assuming that only one station is in token ring.

$η=1/1+a[(N+1)/N]  (N=1 For single host)$

$a = Tp/Tt = 1$

$η=1/3 = 25%$

we could have taken 1/1+(a/N) if it leaves the token just after transmitting.

then the answer will be 1/2.

In Stop and wait                    $η=1/1+2a$

In Sliding Window Protocol     $η=N/1+a2$

In TDM                                   $η=1/1+a$

CSMA/CD                              $η=1/1+6.44a$

In Delay Token Insertion,       $η=1/1+a[(N+1)/N]$

In Early Token Insertion,        $η=1/1+(a/N)$
