Question

Consider a disk with block size of $1024B$. A block pointer is 6B long. A file has $30,000$ employee records of fixed length and each record has $100B$. Assume unspanned organization is used to store records and key SSN takes $9B$. Suppose file is ordered by key field SSN and we want to construct an index on SSN then number of records in 1^st level ___________

according to me question given is about  unspanned so if se we have 10 records per each block and there are such 3000 file blocks

now In question they have asked about records...i.e no. of index entries so we would be having 3000 index entries so as to index all the blocks

so 3000 will be the answer....in the above answer someone has calculated no. of block needed for the first level entries
