I've realized that Answering Verbal questions in GATE without any preparation will mostly lead to negative marks ! So trying to improve if I could !

Syllabus for Verbal Ability:  English grammar, sentence completion, verbal analogies, word groups,

instructions, critical reasoning and verbal deduction.

It has bulk of marks. I'm looking to increase my couple of marks by preparing Verbal, If I can !

0. Have you prepared for it ? How you prepared for it, Please share your experience !

1. Which books to use ?

  • Please give title author.

2. Whether GRE books are more relevant for GATE or CAT Books ? If you have prepared for this exams, using which exams book will be better for GATE point of view ? Please give exact book name you are suggesting.

3. Are there any good FREE video lectures available ?

I've decided to prepare Verbal ability in following way ->
Giving 1.5 Hour per day till GATE 2016 ! ( Will be mostly last 1.5 -2 hour in day after doing all REAL study  !)

1. Using http://www.amazon.in/Word-Power-Made-Norman-Lewis/dp/8183071007/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1449024675&sr=1-1&keywords=word+power+made+easy ! Reading this book for like 30 min in day !

2. Solving questions on Aptitude Overflow in Verbal Section , starting with "appropriate word" -> 30 Min Daily

3. Using the various GRE books available online  & Solving questions in them looking @ GATE patter & GATE questions ! (will give full 3 days for this in January !)

  • Like Official Guide to GRE
  • Kaplan GRE

4. If possible Use to study grammar. -> 30 min daily

I know I might not be able to pull of all of this, as technical subjects are more important. Though we can try to do something at least ! Do suggest any improvement if you can !

Sharing this if anyone was confused whether to leave English or do it !

Also most important point for English, DO NOT ATTEMPT , without 100% gurantee, 0 is always better than -ve marks .
