A server transmits one frame of a video every second, and the client starts playing the video at one frame per second as soon as the first frame arrives. Suppose the first ten frames arrive at times $0, 1.2, 1.99, 4.17, 4.01, 5.03, 8.05, 7.50, 8.90, 8.99,$ all in seconds. How many frames reach the client too late for playout?

  1. $7$
  2. $3$
  3. $6$
  4. $5$

@Shubhgupta can you show me the timing diagram?

should i do like this

1st packet time 0

2nd packet time 1

3rd packet time 2....

I think the answer should be 7

@Nilabja Sarkar, when actual seconds are given then why are you assuming approximation?

frame(1)-0 sec, 2-1.2sec, 3-1.99 sec,5-4.01 sec,4-4.17 sec, 6-5.03 sec, 8-7.05sec, 7-8.05 sec,9-8.90 sec, 10-8.99 sec

so clearly frame 2,4 and 7 frames are coming late.

First Frame arrives at time 0; Once the first frame arrives, the client plays all subsequent frames at 1 frame per second.

     Frame 1 -   Time 0

     Frame 2 -   Time 1.2    ( Expected Time 1 ) LATE

     Frame 3 -   Time1.99   ( Expected time 2 )

     Frame 4 -   Time 4.17  ( Expected time 3 ) LATE

     Frame 5 -   Time 4.01  ( Expected time 4 ) LATE

     Frame 6 -   Time 5.03  ( Expected time 5 ) LATE

     Frame 7 -   Time 8.05  ( Expected time 6 ) LATE

     Frame 8 -   Time 7.50  ( Expected time 7 ) LATE

     Frame 9 -   Time 8.90  ( Expected time 8 ) LATE

     Frame 10 - Time 8.99  ( Expected time 9 )

Isn't it this way?

@fyse, i think in question if 4th frame is coming late then in next second 5th frame should be come(but it came early) because the expectation of next will be dependent on its before one.

The times at which the frames are played will be fixed right? As soon as the first frame arrives, every other frame will be played after one second gap. Why will the frames depend on the arrival time of each other?

yes i think you are right i did mistake all frames should be come in sequential time frame.

@Arjun Sir, please check the answer for this.

why its taking 4.17 before 4.01 ? if i take 4.01 before 4.17 sec

0--1,1.2--2.2(delay),2.2--3.2,4.01--5.01(delay),5.01--6.01,7.50--8.50(delay) 8.50--9.50 after that no delay
