Let R be a relation on the set A = {1, 2, 3}, such that R = {(1,1), (2,2), (3,3), (1,2)}. Now consider the following relations.

I. {(1,1), (2,2), (3,3)}

II. {(1,1), (2,2)}

III. {(1,1), (2,2), (3,3), (1,2)}

Which of the above correctly represent(s) the reflexive closure of R?

Does that mean if in above ques we have R = {(1,1), (2,2), (1,2)} and options are like

1. {(1,1), (2,2),(1,2)}

2. {(1,1), (2,2), (3,3),(1,2)}

3. {(1,1), (2,2), (3,3)}

 

then only 2 is correct ?

The 1st one is not even reflexive , out of question .

2nd one , yes it should be.

3rd one , it is reflexive but doesn't contain the original relation
