Suppose 3 batteries are choosen at random from a group of 3 new and 4 used but still working and 5 ddefective batteries what is the probability of choosing 3 defective batteries?

why is(5C3)/(12C3 ) the correct answer and (5*4*3)/(12C3) not the correct answer??
