It would not be possible to view messages in one that has been already read in the other, if the POP protocol is used. In some cases, it might be possible that all the read messages may get inaccessible. One more problem of not making the use of IMAP is that if any folders created within IMAP, then it might be possible that the client may not be accessible for the software configured for POP.
