The print spool is the way by which the data that is to be printed is put in the temporary location while current printing is still being done. When the entire data is put in the temporary location, the user can continue with some other task. So, basically it doesn't help in speeding up the printing of the data but still it helps the user to do some other important work once, the data is submitted into the buffer.
