Let each player contribute $'x'$ rupees for the gift. Then, cost price $ = \, Rs. 15x.$

According to the question$,15 x = 12(x + 5420)$

$\implies 3x =12 \times 5420$

$\implies x = 21680$

$\therefore$ Cost of the gift $ = 15x = 15 \times 21680 = Rs.\,325200.$

Let gift cost be P.

Priorly, each player is contributing equally so, let x

15x = P…….(i)

Later, 3 are not paying and remaining 12 had to pay 5420 extra,

12x + 12 * 5420 = P…...(ii)

Solving (i) and (ii) we get P = 325200
