A water tank is $30 \; \text{m}$ long, $20 \; \text{m}$ wide and $12 \; \text{m}$ deep. It is made of iron sheet which is $3 \; \text{m}$ wide. The tank is open at the top. If the cost of iron sheet is $\text{ Rs. 10 per meter}$, what is the total cost of iron sheet required to build the tank?

  1. $\text {Rs.} \; 6000$
  2. $\text {Rs.} \; 8000$
  3. $\text {Rs.} \; 9000$
  4. $\text {Rs.} \; 10,000$

Surface area of open tank = 2(LH + BH) + LB

Here L= 30m B=20m H=12m

Surface area = 2(30*12 + 20*12) + 30*20=1800 m^2

Length of iron sheet = 1800/3= 600m

Cost = 600 * 10 = RS 6000
