I would suggest IITGN CSE over IIT Ropar AI.
It is always recommended to choose CSE over a specific domain like AI (Unless and until you have interest only in AI field).
because,
- CSE is a vast field that combines various areas along with “AI”. By pursuing a master's degree in CSE, You can explore diverse domains such as software engineering, distributed system, NLP, data science, cybersecurity, computer networks, databases, and more.
- AI is an interdisciplinary field that draws knowledge from computer science, mathematics, statistics, and other domains. But while studying CSE, you can still take AI courses as optional during 1st or 2nd semester. I personally knows few of my college seniors who have taken AI, ML as optional subjects in 1st Sem.
- By pursuing a M.tech. Degree from CSE, you develop the ability to adapt to changing trends and technologies. This adaptability is valuable as it ensures you stay relevant in the industry, even if AI experiences shifts or other emerging fields gain prominence.
- Last but not the least, IITs offer excellent networking opportunities with peers, alumnus and professors. By choosing CSE, you can connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds, expanding your professional network beyond the AI domain. It will help you to switch your domain in future (If you feel bored on your domain).
But If you choose AI in IIT Ropar for placement, it may not give you enough package as your expectations. But if you want to make higher studies or research on AI then you can choose it.
