That is what I m saying..The kernel level threads are visible to OS since they correspond to hardware level but user level threads are not visible since they are accessible by user and user is not directly linked to OS.It is linked via system utilities like system calls etc

@Atul here, transparent means functioning without OS being aware.

•  User level threads are transparent to OS (means they work without OS knowing about it)
• Overlays are transparent to OS. (OS doesn't know about overlays too. its's responsibility of programmer to provide)
• RAM is not transparent (because OS knows about it)
• Virtual memory is not transparent( OS provides support, so knows about it)

When we change RAM does OS has any effect? Yes, we know page table is in OS and so RAM is not transparent to OS.

CPU is not transparent to OS as OS is making the user programs run for a particular CPU - we can install say Windows 10 on x86 machines but not on an ARM board.

Cache memory - is used by the CPU and not by the OS. Even if cache memory goes down or up, OS won't complain (just that its performance may get affected). i.e., to change the cache memory we do not have to change anything in OS - it is transparent.
