data naturally needs to flow in and out in serial form

serial access memories do not require an address so they are useful in the system in which data travels serially for example....SHIFT REGISTERS, SIPO/PISO,FIFO/LIFO QUEUES,TAPPED DELAY LINE etc. so answer is d)
