What does the Goto function of LR class of parse recognize ?

A goto table is simply mapping of transitions in the DFA on non terminals.

I appreciate your answer but i am not thoroughly convinced by it .this is not what i meant to ask.

Let say a parse (for exp LR parse  ) has a parse tree and it is parsing it then there must be something that the Goto function will help the parser in the process of parse that particular grammar .I m not just asking in case of State transition Diagram.
