Best answer 14 votes 14 votes Ans A) 300 Total number of bits per character while transmitting is (7+1)=8 bits No of character transmitted 2400/8=300 bps srestha answered Jun 19, 2016 • selected Jun 27, 2016 by ManojK srestha comment Share Follow See all 8 Comments See all 8 8 Comments reply cse23 commented Jun 19, 2016 reply Follow Share I think it should be 300 in Synchronous transmission, we don't need start and stop bit. on;y 8 bits are used ,so 2400/8 = 300 (A) 9 votes 9 votes Kapil commented Jun 19, 2016 reply Follow Share U r right , it should be 300. 2 votes 2 votes khyati commented Jun 27, 2016 reply Follow Share The Answer is 300 according to answer key also 1 votes 1 votes srestha commented Jun 27, 2016 reply Follow Share ok corrected 1 votes 1 votes Regina Phalange commented Apr 2, 2017 reply Follow Share if it asynchronous,we need to consider start and stop bits? 3 votes 3 votes sushmita commented Apr 4, 2017 reply Follow Share YES FOR SURE. 1 votes 1 votes Regina Phalange commented Apr 4, 2017 reply Follow Share Thank you 1 votes 1 votes shivani saxena commented Mar 25, 2018 reply Follow Share refer question no. 19 of ISRO 2007, a slight difference, then why have you not added start and stop bit ? 2 votes 2 votes Please log in or register to add a comment.
6 votes 6 votes Awesome tricky question! For synchronous transfer, we don't need start and stop bits. So, $\frac{2400}{7+1}=300$ Option A For asynchronous transfer, we need start and stop bits in order to synchronise! So, $\frac{2400}{7+1+1+1}=240$ JashanArora answered Dec 7, 2019 JashanArora comment Share Follow See all 0 reply Please log in or register to add a comment.
1 votes 1 votes Given bandwidth is 2400 bps Each character consists of (7+1)bits = 8 bits Synchronous transmission is a data transfer method which is characterized by a continuous stream of data in the form of signals which are accompanied by regular timing signals which are generated by some external clocking mechanism meant to ensure that both the sender and receiver are synchronized with each other. Once sender and receiver synchronized means no need to use start and stop bits every time Total number of characters can be transmitted per second is =bandwidth/ number of bits in each character=2400/8 = 300 topper98 answered Mar 23, 2020 topper98 comment Share Follow See all 0 reply Please log in or register to add a comment.
